
According to the Energy Information Agency, the state of Texas has over 43,000 miles of natural gas pipelines - more than any other state.
The many wells that tap the Barnett Shale formation have spurred the rapid expansion of Texas' gas pipelines, including gathering pipelines fed by the wells, federally regulated transmission lines and distributions lines, plus pipelines that bring natural gas to homes.
